Developed curriculum pertinent to perceptual drawing, conceptual drawing, visual design, color theory, art appreciation, 3D design, mixed media painting, oil painting and teacher training in art education. Provided challenging studio projects with technical and conceptual emphases. Conducted group and one-on-one classroom instruction as well as developmental critiques designed to enhance the student’s understanding and awareness of contemporary art, art history, aesthetic philosophy and contemporary uses of design. Generated assessment rubrics rooted in personal educational experience and research in art theory. Provided written summaries of individual progress evaluating design understanding, technical aptitude and conceptual development.

Gained postgraduate admission to the University of Canterbury and studied under New Zealand painter, Julia Morrison, Professor of Art. Assisted in the organization of painting exhibitions in Christchurch, New Zealand. Conducted research in the area of tertiary education and presented art work and research findings to members of Rotary International in New Zealand and in the United States.

Facilitated tutorials and discussion groups over course materials. Observed and recorded student progress. Evaluated student research and art while organizing materials and information for lectures. Worked as curator’s assistant at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona. Co-developed online teaching resources relative to the Center’s collection. Conducted research on the facilitation of photographic interpretation. Published results in Art Education and included findings in MA thesis.

Exhibited internationally (New Zealand) and nationally, as well as throughout the region at galleries and museums such as the South Dakota Art Museum, The Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion, Ipso Gallery, The Ritz Gallery, The Dahl, Prairie Edge Gallery, Warrior Work Gallery, and Craftsman Creek Gallery. Received the University of Arizona’s 2000 Creative Achievement Award, given annually to one graduate student in Fine Arts.

Organized exhibitions featuring regional artists and facilitated collaborative projects between artists. Co-developed and implemented fundraisers for the benefit area arts organizations. Worked closely with artists to curate, organize and hang exhibitions.
